As the first Protestant church in the San Antonio area, First Presbyterian Church has a long history of strong leadership and influence in the city.  Located a stone’s throw from the Alamo, a mission legacy, the church stands as a statement to a commitment to “city transformation” – one of the church’s core values identified during the Vision Pathway process.  When the new senior pastor arrived in 2005, he recognized the need to articulate a clear vision for the church as an important element for cohesion and focus for church’s future.  In his words the desire was to move from a “fluorescent light” vision to a “laser beam.”  Auxano was brought in to guide that journey.  Building on the church’s values, experiences and history, the leadership developed a framework for the future of the church that transformed the strength of the past into a missional vision for today.  The newly articulated vision, with a three-component strategy and six missional life-marks, was forged into a new brand identity that is now creating a church-wide synergy.  The dream continues to unfold as First Presbyterian influences the city and region of San Antonio “to renew minds and redeem lives with the steadfast love of Jesus Christ.”
